Bucks County Bank Robbery Leads to Middletown Car Accident

A Middletown car accident involving a bank robbery led to at least one person suffering serious injuries after the alleged bank robber fled police and slammed into oncoming traffic. The incident took place on Friday morning, August 17, 2012, along South Bucks Town Road in Bucks County.

According to local police, they received a call at approximately 11:00 AM that an armed man robbed the First Federal of Bucks County Bank in Levittown. The suspect got into his car and fled at a high rate of speed.

“At some point on South Bucks Town Road, he crossed into a grassy medium and probably lost control and went into oncoming traffic,” said Lt. John Michniewicz.

The suspect slammed into two cars, a Toyota Corolla and a Mercedes. Rescue crews transported the driver of the Mercedes to St. Mary Medical Center. The victim has been identified as John Kerrigan. He was treated for serious injuries. The other driver was also reported as being injured.

The three-vehicle Middletown car accident remains under investigation. Police are waiting for the suspect to be released from the hospital to make the arrest.
