A Delaware County pedestrian accident involving a car fleeing from police claims the lives of two teens after they are struck by a speeding car. The incident took place at approximately 9:45 on Friday evening, December 9, 2011, at the intersection of Chester Pike and Glenolden Avenue.
According to reports, Marquis Javon Thompson, 19, of Chester, was fleeing a Folcroft police officer when the incident occurred. Mr. Thompson reportedly pulled his maroon Chevrolet Lumina over before speeding off again. That is when he struck the two boys.
The first victim, a 15-year-old boy, was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident. Rescue crews transported the second victim, another 15-year-old male, to a local hospital where he was listed in critical condition. Unfortunately, he lost his life the following afternoon.
Mr. Thompson was arrested three blocks away from the accident scene. Police indicate that he appeared to be under the influence of drugs. Police report that they found marijuana on the driver’s seat of his vehicle.
The fatal Delaware County pedestrian accident remains under investigation by local authorities. Mr. Thompson’s bail was set at $1 million.
