Good Tire Quality Prevents Accidents in Buck County

People who put off tending to their vehicle’s tires may inadvertently cause an auto accident, with the possibility of causing serious injury to themselves and/or others. Philadelphia area personal injury lawyer Michael L. Saile, Jr. advises that overall car maintenance is an important factor in keeping our PA roadways safe and avoiding accidents.

A key aspect of auto safety upkeep is the proper care of your automobile’s tires. Take the right steps to make sure your tires are in good condition:

  • Proper tire inflation.  Just because your tires are not completely flat, does not mean they are ok. It is important to check your tire pressure monthly.
  • Tread Wear. Having little to no tread on your tires can cause you to lose control of your car and have an accident, especially in poor weather. Your vehicle could spin out of control if there is no sturdy tread.
  • Tire rotation. Have a regular tire rotation to extend the overall life of your tires and keep them in safe working order. Most owners’ manuals have instructions on recommended tire rotation intervals for your particular vehicle.

A habit you may want to adopt is to get your tires checked each time you get your oil changed so tire care is somewhat automatic and does not get overlooked.

Another thing to be conintually mindful of in an effort to keep your tires “healthy” is watching for potholes and avoiding them when possible. This will help protect your tires from becoming weak, as well as keep your car in good alignment.

A Victim of Someone Else’s Neglect?

Heavily traveled roads such as I-95 in Philadelphia and Street Road in Bucks County are poplulated by all sorts of vehicles and are common accident sites.  Do not add to the dangers of those roadways by driving with a poorly maintained vehicle. If you or a loved one has been injured in an auto accident because of a tire incident or another’s carelessness, you will want to speak with an experienced PA car accident lawyer.
