May is National Bike Month

The month of May is quickly approaching, and with it comes something worth celebrating: National Bike Month. During the course of the month, national biking groups promote education on the benefits of biking as well as safety tips.

Since 1956, the League of American Bicyclists has been working across the entirety of the United States to teach folks how to bike and show them what fun and healthful results come from this joyful activity.

According to their website, National Bike months is an “opportunity to celebrate the unique power of the bicycle and the many reasons we ride.” As such, National Bike Month is designed to tell others about why you ride, and why others should join in, too. The month is characterized by events like Bike to School Day and Cyclofemme.

  • Increasing your visibility by wearing reflective clothing and using bike lights
  • Paying attention to your surroundings
