A Philadelphia car accident involving an alleged intoxicated driver claimed the life of a girl and left four others injured. The incident took place at approximately 12:30 PM on Sunday, March 25, 2012, at 8th Street and Washington Avenue in the South Philadelphia area.

According to local police, the driver of a 2012 Chevy Impala ran a red light at the intersection of 8th Street and Washington Avenue and slammed into a sport utility vehicle (SUV). The force of the impact sent the SUV into a nearby restaurant, pinning a young girl between the SUV and the building.

Rescue crews transported her stepmother, 3-year-old brother and the driver of the SUV to a nearby hospital. An employee of the restaurant was also taken to the hospital. All four victims were reported as being in stable condition.

The driver of the Impala has been identified as Max Drosi, 28, of Miami, Florida. Police believe that Mr. Drosi was looking down at his GPS when the accident occurred. They also believe that he was under the influence of either drugs or alcohol.
