Philadelphia Pedestrian Accident Involves Two Police Officers

A Philadelphia pedestrian accident involving two police officers sends a young woman to the hospital after she is struck by a patrol car. The incident took place at approximately 2:00 AM on Sunday, December 4, 2011, at Broad Avenue and Girard Avenue.

According to police, two Philadelphia police officers were responding to a shooting in Germantown when their vehicle struck a female pedestrian. The victim, who has been identified as a 26-year-old woman, was apparently running to board a Septa bus when she was struck by the patrol car.

Rescue crews transported the woman to Hahnemann Hospital where she was treated for injuries sustained in the accident. She was listed in stable condition before finally being released from the hospital.

In an attempt to avoid hitting the woman, the patrol car slammed into a center median. The police officers were able to safely exit their vehicle after the patrol car caught fire. It was unclear if either of the officers were injured.

The Philadelphia pedestrian accident remains under investigation by local authorities as they gather all the facts regarding the crash.

This is an unfortunate incident, and we wish everyone involved a speedy recovery during this difficult time.
