Safe PA Bike Paths/Trails

For those who love to bicycle, mountain bike, or commute by bike, a bike path or trail that’s free of cars is key to safety. The following are some of the top bike paths and trails in Pennsylvania.

Great Allegheny Passage

The recently completed (to Pittsburgh) Great Allegheny Passage trail spans 150 miles. It connects with the 184.5 mile C&0 route, creating a long, unbeatable, option for those who love to ride.

One of the best things about the Great Allegheny Passage is that it’s free of all cars and other motorized vehicles. The trail is nearly level, with a very minimal grade, and open from dawn until dusk year-round. While motorized vehicles won’t be on the trail, riders should be aware that it’s not a bike-only trail, and it’s often shared by hikers and equestrians as well.

202 Parkway Trail

The 202 Parkway Trail is much shorter than the Great Allegheny Passage at only 8.4 miles. Despite the short distance, the trail is a bikers’ favorite for a number of reasons. It’s separated from the roadway by grassy strip and split-rail fence, and traverses some beautiful country, including forest and farmland.

Armstrong Trail

The Armstrong Trail in western Pennsylvania is one of the most beautiful bike routes, coursing beside a former railroad track and the Allegheny River. Ideal for just about every activity, the trail is a great place to bike, whether solo or with family or friends. The trail is 36 miles long, and features stretches of crushed stone, grass, asphalt, and dirt.

Other great biking areas and trails are found in state parks, according to the Pennsylvania Department of Conservation and Natural Resources.

Contact a Bicycle Attorney If You are in an Accident

Taking safety precautions by riding on car-free trails can protect you from an accident. But bike only trails aren’t always a reality or desire for many. According to PaCommutes.com, not all Pennsylvania bicycle routes are free of cars.

If you’re involved in a bicycle accident where a motor vehicle hits you, you need the counsel of a Pennsylvania bicycle accident attorney. At Cordisco & Saile LLC, our team is committed to getting you the benefits that your injuries warrant. Call us today at 215-642-2335 to get started.
