The New Jersey Court System and How They’re Organized

Much of our law practice at Cordisco & Saile LLC consists of representing clients who either live in New Jersey or have New Jersey cases. Recently, I came across an excellent guide, which explains how the New Jersey civil court system is organized. Most people have no idea in what court they should sue. There are many different kinds of New Jersey courts.

The most common court in which we file lawsuits is the New Jersey Superior Court. Most personal injury lawsuits are filed in Superior Court. Each county in NJ has its own Superior Court. For estate matters we may file in the Superior Court, Probate part.

Sometimes, we may file a small lawsuit in Special Civil court for claims under $15,000. There are several other civil courts in New Jersey.
