Why We Started The Injury Pros Podcast
Over our more than 30 years of serving clients in Bucks County, Lehigh Valley, Philadelphia, and throughout Pennsylvania, our clients often came to us regretting decisions they had made before contacting a lawyer. Their experiences inspired us to start The Injury Pros. On the show, trusted attorneys like Steven DeBonis and Todd Sailer break down complex topics and offer practical advice for injury victims.
The Injury Pros pushes beyond generic legal discussion and centers on real issues affecting Pennsylvania residents. If you want to know more about Pennsylvania law, there’s no one better to explain it than Pennsylvania attorneys.

The First Call After a Crash and What Insurance Companies Already Know
Most Pennsylvania drivers don’t really know what’s in the policy they bought, and will only find out something important is missing when they need it. In our 23rd episode, Michael Saile and his guest, Dave Leber of Leber Insurance Group, discussed a variety of insurance tips and tricks for Pennsylvania residents to help them avoid preventable coverage issues.
One key choice Pennsylvania drivers must make is between a “limited tort” or “full tort” policy. Most lawyers recommend full tort for its greater coverage and legal flexibility, but these policies require a greater upfront investment. Limited tort plans are more affordable, but you can only file a lawsuit after a crash if you suffer a serious injury.
Other protections to consider include “policy stacking” — or combining coverage limits from multiple insured vehicles into a larger pool — and uninsured/underinsured motorist coverage, an important provision missing from many policies.

What Happens When Pain Doesn't Show Up Right Away?
In our 30th episode, attorney Steven DeBonis welcomed Philadelphia pain management specialist Dr. Samuel Grodofsky to discuss the many ways pain can impact a personal injury case.
After a car crash, many victims won’t realize right away that they’ve suffered a significant injury. Instead, their body may have entered survival mode, where the nervous system is filtering out their pain in response to trauma. However, it’s important to get medical treatment immediately after an accident instead of waiting until the pain hits. Insurers can use delayed treatment or gaps in a claimant’s medical history against them, arguing that they didn’t do enough to minimize their own injuries.
Other discussion topics included how “normal” MRI results can be misleading, when to consider alternative or advanced therapy methods, and more.

What Happens When a Crash Turns Into a Wrongful Death Case?
For our 35th episode, guest Kristi Hughes joins Michael Saile to discuss the tragic loss of her husband, Sean Hughes, in a 2021 car crash. In a deeply personal conversation, Kristi opens up about the overwhelming challenge of navigating insurance claims and injury litigation while mourning.
Speaking from a raw, human perspective, Kristi shares advice on preparing for the unexpected and emphasizes the vital importance of understanding your insurance coverage. The episode also explores the legal landscape in Pennsylvania, covering who can bring wrongful death and survival action claims, the types of damages families may recover, and why acting quickly is essential during such a difficult time.

The Perspective Former Defense Attorneys Bring to Personal Injury Law
When a defense lawyer like Joseph Lavin decides to switch sides and fight for injury victims, they bring strategic insight into how insurance companies operate. For our 36th episode, Michael Saile sat down with Joseph to discuss how insurers build defense cases, where they look for weaknesses in injury claims, and how his understanding of the other side gives our firm a unique advantage in how we approach our cases.
Joe emphasized that insurers often exploit gaps in medical treatments or out-of-context social media posts to undermine claimants. You might feel obligated to downplay their pain, but being honest about the severity of your injuries is hugely important to your success, as insurance companies can and will use your words against you.

The Invisible Toll That Personal Injury Cases Rarely Capture
As one would expect, personal injury cases are often centered on the physical harm someone suffered and what they’re owed in response. However, “invisible injuries” like chronic pain, brain injuries, and mental health conditions are often overlooked despite their impact on one’s quality of life.
On our 18th episode, Michael Saile sat down with clinical psychologist Dr. Lee Picariello to discuss treatment practices that treat mental health as a vital part of a personal injury victim’s recovery. Understanding the impact of psychological injuries and how to approach them during the claims process can improve patient outcomes and help clients get better results.

When the Abuse Came From an Institution and What Civil Courts Can Actually Do
For episode 34, Michael Saile welcomed attorney Medina Morgan, who worked for the Philadelphia District Attorney’s office before specializing in holding institutions accountable for sexual abuse. Where the criminal justice system fails, civil litigation can step up, enact systemic change, and ensure that these organizations face financial consequences for enabling abuse.
Michael and Medina discussed the impact of the 2019 Pennsylvania Child Victims Act, which significantly extended the statute of limitations for child sexual abuse lawsuits. However, the state has yet to pass a “look back window” law that would retroactively extend the filing deadline for those abused before 2019, leaving many brave survivors still waiting for justice.
The Financial Chapter Nobody Prepares Injured Clients For
Personal injury firms love to talk about securing large settlements for their clients, but most never talk about what happens after injury victims get their compensation.
For our 25th episode, wealth management professional Scott Edelman discussed the importance of creating a financial plan to make sure settlement money lasts. Many successful claimants fall prey to the “lottery effect,” where a sudden windfall tempts one into reckless financial decisions.
A trusted financial advisor can help plan for key expenses both before and after receiving a settlement, advise you on how to avoid overspending, and balance your immediate needs with your long-term treatment and goals.
