What began as a routine drive along Route 33 in the Lehigh Valley ended in a violent rear-end collision that left our client facing permanent spinal injuries and invasive surgery.
Our client was traveling on the highway when another driver, without warning, crashed into the rear of his vehicle. The impact was forceful and unexpected, causing disabling front-end damage to his car and serious trauma to his spine. The driver who caused the crash was cited for careless driving and later pleaded guilty to the violation – establishing clear liability for this negligent collision.
But the consequences for our client were far more severe than a traffic citation.
In the aftermath of the crash, he was diagnosed with a traumatic rupture of the cervical intervertebral disc at C5-C6, a right paracentral disc protrusion in the lumbar spine requiring invasive surgical decompression at L3-L4 and L4-L5, cervical and lumbar sprain and strain, nerve injury, myalgia, tinnitus, and significant limitations in his daily activities.
The lumbar spine injury ultimately required invasive surgical intervention. Despite undergoing surgery and committing to rehabilitation, he continues to suffer from persistent pain, limited mobility, and the lasting neurological effects of his injuries.
His treatment has been extensive and ongoing, including surgical intervention, diagnostic imaging, physical therapy, and specialized pain management. Even with comprehensive medical care, he continues to experience permanent impairments that affect his ability to work and enjoy the quality of life he once had.
Rear-end collisions are often preventable. Drivers have a responsibility to maintain proper distance and control of their vehicles. In this case, that responsibility was ignored with life-altering consequences.
Our firm built a case highlighting the severity of his spinal injuries, the necessity of surgical treatment, and the long-term impact on his livelihood and daily life. We successfully recovered the maximum amount possible through insurance of $100,000 for his injuries, surgical expenses, medical care, lost wages, and the permanent disruption caused by the negligent driver’s failure to drive safely.
