A Pennsylvania nursing home resident and her family trusted a long-term care facility to provide the supervision and dignity she deserved. Instead, during her stay from April 2022 until her passing in May 2023, she suffered a series of preventable falls despite her family repeatedly raising concerns. Our complaint alleged the facility failed in its duty to protect a vulnerable resident from a foreseeable risk of falls.
The falls and delayed diagnosis led to a painful decline that placed an enormous emotional burden on her family, who had trusted the facility to keep her safe.
We investigated the facility’s care practices, pursued the responsible corporate and individual defendants, and built a corporate negligence case with the help of a nursing home expert. We pushed the case through mediation and negotiation, making clear that depositions and continued litigation would only increase pressure on the defense.
The case resolved for $200,000, providing the family with accountability and recognition of the dignity their loved one deserved.
